Every weekday we wake up to new adventures in the same routine places. And when I say same routine places I mean insurances, manufactures, and FRMs. Each day we encounter new patients starting their journeys and helping an established patient maneuver a hurdle. We spend hours helping patients obtain medication and hours helping providers utilize every tool available to help push our approvals through quicker. As I think about it, most of us can’t turn our brains off either and that can be a good thing, because in some of those odd places we look at things differently. I for one can say officially that I have learned and began to understand insurance more than most people.
Now we transition from work to home. Whether you work from home or go into the office or even do the hybrid of it all, we are mentally exhausted, but we all have things that need to be completed. Eating out for dinner can be easy but adds up quickly. I like to set up my night up for success like I do for my weekday. So, in the morning, I set up an easy dinner that I can turn on low in the crockpot and dinner is ready once I’m clocked out and home bound. You can do this the night before as well if you want to save time in the morning or even make a crockpot breakfast. I share with you a quick dinner that can be easy, and I can attest that my kids approve.
Oliver Garden Chicken:
• 1 bottle Olive Garden dressing
• 16 oz cream cheese
• 1 cup chicken broth
• 3 raw chicken breasts (cut in cubes or slices)
• 1 box penne noodles
Directions: Add dressing, cream cheese, chicken broth, and cubed or sliced chicken to the crockpot. Cook on low for 6–7 hours. About 15 minutes before serving, add noodles and cook until tender.
We can all tend to forget to eat or even take a break as we get lost in working our cases. So, this meal might be our only meal of the day, which is why if we can be proactive, we win, or in our biologic’s world, get “APPROVED”.
It’s important to remember that we are just as important as our patients, providers, and those we support. Meals can be easily prepared, reducing stress at the end of the day. A healthy BC is an energized BC, set for success and ready to take on the next adventure/patient.
